Getting Ready

In two more days, we leave for Niagara Falls so Dad has been checking the weather even more than usual. At one point he was saying that with the wind chill it could be as high as 2 degrees! And now they are talking about snow showers. So we are packing our warmest things, and we are glad that our room overlooks the falls in case it's too cold to be out for long.

But he also has found that while we are there, there will be fireworks over the falls. And an ice wine festival. Apparently there is a certain type of grape that is picked when the temperature is at -8C degrees. There is an ice bar, a bar like you sit at made of carved ice. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be bringing back any samples. As you can imagine, the wine is very expensive. Anyway, when we get back, I hope to have some good pictures for you.

I am also getting ready to speak at our women's retreat in early February. I was just asked to do it last week but the ideas have been flowing pretty well so I think I'll be ready. The overall subject is about being rooted in Christ. Our church is so much into head knowledge that the direction I'm going to be going is very much application oriented. We'll remember and reflect on what God did last year in our lives. We'll think about what we are doing now with the idea of prioritizing and planning for what God would have us do this coming year. I'm hoping to get them to think about everything - how they are as wives, mothers, workers; what they do such as homeschooling, Bible studies, working out at the gym, hobbies, television, reading, fixing meals, etc. There will be some group time but also some alone time, which is important. We'll see. And of course, very important is to laugh together. It's going to be at a very pretty place on a lake so that should be inspirational.

So more when we get back from Niagara Falls!

Wow all that cold sounds fun.

It will be in the 60's when we are at the beach. I also saw where the Gulf water temperature is about 69 degrees, so the water will be warmer than the air.

I guess we will just have to save up so that we too can enjoy the -2F weather next year. Yikes!
